RELATED TO SANTA CATALINA ISLANDSan Clemente IslandSan Clemente Island is government owned. However, while we were boating, anchoring at Pyramid Cove was permitted. Santa Barbara IslandSanta Barbara Island affords no real anchorage. And, getting ashore was difficult via rope and insecure ladder. However, it would seem that this difficulty has been addressed and that tourism is now possible. Beleive me, getting out of an anchored boat and into a dingy, then clamboring up a rope ladder -- from, as I recall, the dingy -- was exciting. The walk across the island was very interesting as it was covered in succulents. However, at that time, there were no clear trails and our tennis shoes were soaked with yellowish fluid from the succulents.

OFFSHORE BAJA CALIFORNIA ISLANDSTodos Santos IslandsWe cruised to the Todos Santos Islands one summer. Monster jellyfish in the ocean fascinated us, but no one wanted to go in the water.

ISLANDS TO DREAM ABOUTThere were two groups of islands which Bill wanted to visit. They are far offshore from Mexico's Pacific Coast and one, Clipperton, is French. Revillagigedo ArchipeligoI do not recall Bill mentioning a specific island to visit, but Socorro Island is a member of the island group. |

Clarion It is a very small island about seven miles long and said to be with a single tree. It is about 350 miles south-west of the tip of Baja California and would be very easy to miss. I believe it is considered part of the Revillagigedo group. Clipperton A French possession some 600 miles out to sea from Mexico's West Coast. And, a bit more information from the CIA.
