The map to the right shows the known migration of the Morris family after 1867 although no documents for William M Morris have been located prior to 1880. Note also that between 1880 and 1900 there was at least one move to Woodville, Indian Territory (now Marshall County)

The birthplace of William M Morris is alternately given as Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Michigan, Knightstown, Indiana, and Illinois. The most likely area for his birth is within the area highlighted on the map. In his birth year, Wisconsin was a part of Michigan Territory. It is, however, likely that as a child he resided in Illinois.
